ANNE ROUGHTON, LICSW

Working Style
My work is based in psychodynamic theory. To tailor treatment to each client's needs and goals, I also draw on mindfulness, methods of stress reduction and relaxation, and current research on trauma and on how emotional bonds between people form and change over time.
Background
I earned my degree from Smith College School for Social Work in 2005, and have worked in different settings around the Pioneer Valley, including college and community mental health clinics and an addiction treatment center.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I studied public health at UMass Amherst, and worked for many years in Washington, DC on education and advocacy regarding the effects of human population growth and resource consumption on the environment.
